Ten days till Christmas!
With school wrapping up in a week and Christmas close enough to taste, I can't express how excited I am to have two weeks of free days ahead of me! The publishing process has been amazing so far- lots of work, but an incredibly rewarding experience to watch everything come together so professionally. But while I'm trying to savor as much as I can, it's slightly more difficult to appreciate each step when juggling so many commitments at once! Being at school all day can make things difficult, especially when academic demands are competing with the project I'm most concerned with- The Heir of Ariad. Needless to say, I have big plans for this Christmas break to work on marketing, blogging, and, of course- writing the second installment!
Is it horrendous that I probably haven't touched Book Two in months? Things have been a little chaotic, for one thing, and inspiration has been pretty stagnant, for another... so I can't let Christmas vacation come and go without making progress! It seems to be a recurring theme with me that inspiration will fizzle when I have time to write, and flow beautifully in other, less convenient times. I can't deny getting a little bit frustrated when God has given me bursts of motivation and inspiration in the middle of exam prep or midterms. Like, "Couldn't You have shown me these ideas when I had two months off this summer?!" Thankfully, though, after a few years of this phenomenon, I think I'm beginning to take His point. His timing is better than mine. I'll write when He wills it, and wait when He doesn't. In the end, He always knows best, and waiting for His inspiration will always yield better results than forcing my way through with mine.
So, yes, I'm hoping for some real HoA progress this Christmas, but I leave it in God's hands to decide what form that takes. In the meantime, I'll keep writing and counting the days. Just ten left till Christmas!
